General Notes: The first member of the Mangalorean Community to obtain the distinction of being a Justice in the year 1891. He practised in the Madras High Court and was elevated to the rank of District and Sessions Judge in 1911. He died of a heart attack in Bangalore in 1929.

General Notes: Benedict Joseph Fernandez has the distinction of being the first member of the Mangalorean Catholic Community to be appointed as Agent of a Bank. He was Agent, Bank of Madras in Bangalore. After Indian independance the three Presidency Banks - Bank of Madras, Bank of Bengal and Bank of Bombay merged and was renamed State bank of India.
