General Notes: A tribute from his loving nephew - Rupert:-
He is the youngest son of Gasper Louis Abreo and Anne Colaco, also known as Sontubai. Youngest of the seven children. According to my early recollections and what was said (I must have been around 3 years old), he was the pet of his ageing widowed mother, who fearing that he may leave her, did not allow him to pursue with higher studies. Instead, She set-up a small convenience and bi-cycle repair shop for him, at the nearby Urwa maidan. We were little (me and my two elder brothers) and lived accross my grandmothers house, with our Mum. Sometimes, Baabu Uncle (pet name) used to sneak into our house to visit his sis and her little kids, and sometimes, we kids used to go over to his little shop, to be entertained by him with sesame laddus and sweet soda. Later on he was conned by the owners of Tip Top Circus to join them in partnership and made him a Director of some sort. Unaware of the bad intentions of these wicked people, who had huge debts and running into loss, he fell into their trap as they abandoned the ship and disappeared. Being the only director, he had to face the music of the law and litigation. How he got out of it, I do not know, but at the time of this crisis, he was constantly in our house to seek advice and moral support from his sister. After this episode and when the crisis blew off, he enrolled in the Indian Airforce as a technician (WW II) as war was going on. Later on he got discharged from the IAF due to injury to his eyes and after that moved out to Kuwait to work for KOC. By then we boys were growing up, and after moving several rented houses, we were placed in St. Aloysiues B.H., and our mother movedf to East Africa. Our uncle Mr. Augustine Bruno Abreo (who also happens to be my Godfather), never forgot his nephews and always took us out, whenever he came down to Mangalore on his vacation from Kuwait. He even took us along, when he got married to Aunty Catherine in Chickmangalore. As time went by, we grew up and moved out to East Africa, and thus ended the bond and the connection with our Uncle. Years later, he had retired, and settled down in Mysore, and when I got married, he did attend my wedding, and subsequently, I along with my bride, visited him and family in Mysore. And that was the last time, I saw him and since then, he is only in our memory.

Augustine married Catherine TAURO, daughter of Albert Lawrence TAURO and Lily Gertrude MATHIAS. Catherine was born on Aug 22, 1929 in Mangaluru, Karnataka, India and died on Jul 6, 2016 in Mysuru, Karnataka, India (Mysore) at age 86.
