4. Jerome Augustine D'ALMEIDA (________¹) was born circa 1860.

General Notes: Jerome D'Almeida was a school teacher in Belman. After his wife's death he left home and disappeared. The the four children - Francis, Cecelia, Gregory and Louis were brought to Malpe. Louis stayed with Casmir Fernandes. Francis stayed with John Fernandes (Manoel's son). Willy Menezes (Glenda's father) also stayed with Casmir Fernandes.

Francis grew up in the house of his maternal uncle Emmanuel and Louis grew up in the house of Emmanuel's younger brother Casimir. Cecelia was married young (probably to a 2^nd cousin or his son). Gregory seems to have gone to Bangalore to work & died a bachelor over there. The two houses where Francis & his brother Louis grew up were separated by a few fields but used water from the same well. When they were adults, Louis joined the British Indian Army and fought in World War 1 and World War 2. He was posted in Egypt at one time. Francis worked in the Indian railways and married and settled in Mahim Bombay. After the war, Louis left the Army and worked in Bombay. Later he bought a house and property in Ambalpady, near Malpe, got married and settled there. (source Denis & Elizabeth Fernandes.)

Jerome married Isabella FERNANDES, daughter of Peter FERNANDES and Qittera MENEZES. Isabella died circa 1890.

Children from this marriage were:

+ 10    i. Francis D'ALMEIDA was born on Aug 2, 1888 and died on Nov 16, 1960 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India at age 72.

   11    ii. Gregory D'ALMEIDA was born about 1890 and died about 1915 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India about age 25.

+ 12    iii. Cecilia D'ALMEIDA was born about 1892.

+ 13    iv. Louis D'ALMEIDA was born on Nov 21, 1898 and died on Apr 23, 1974 at age 75.
