General Notes: Raymond Edgar KELMAN moved first to South Africa then to England, where he trained as an electrical engineer. Just before World War I he was sent to Guernsey in the Channel Islands as a consultant engineer to the newly started up electricity company there. During the war he joined up and worked with submarines in Loch Long in Scotland. He was then sent down to Salisbury Plain where he broke his leg in a motor bike accident and ended the war in hospital. In 1919 he married Rose Ellen TEED (1898-1977) after returning to Guernsey. The couple had two children, Beatrice Mary (b.1922) and Peter (b.1928), before moving to Cumberland, England in 1952.
