1. João MAÇEDO was born circa 1770.
General Notes: The origins of the Machado Prabhus of Omzoor lie in Aldona, in Bardez, Goa. There are no records but only family tradition, notes maintained by Joseph Machado, eldest son of Piedade Machado, and certain data of the Aldona ganvkari records to support this. It is not known when they left Aldona, and whether the entire clan left or some stayed behind. All that is known is that they emigrated probably in the 17th century along with a general exodus from Goa for Kanara.
There is reason to believe that their first surname was Maçedo, not Machado, and the change took place sometime between 1886 and 1892 when Italian priests started dominating the Catholic church since Latin does not have the ç.

João married Rosa BRAGA about 1800 in Omzoor, Karnataka, India. Rosa was born circa 1784.
