4. John James KELMAN (James (Corporal)¹) was born circa Jul 1800, was baptized on Mar 21, 1801 in Fort St. George, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, died on May 10, 1831 about age 30, and was buried on May 10, 1831 in St. Mary's Church, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India.

John married Mary Anne PEGGIE on Jan 12, 1822.

+ 6    i. John William KELMAN was born on Mar 27, 1825 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India and was baptized on Dec 19, 1825 in St. Mary's Church, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India.

   7    ii. George KELMAN was born on Jul 27, 1829 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, was baptized on Sep 14, 1829 in St. Mary's Church, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, and died on Dec 15, 1864 in Lahore, Pakistan at age 35.

5. Sergeant William KELMAN (James (Corporal)¹) was born on May 10, 1801 in Bellary, Karnataka, India, was baptized on May 29, 1802 in Fort St. George, Chennai, Tamilnadu, India, and died on Nov 13, 1870 in Vellore, Tamilnadu, India at age 69. The cause of his death was Hemorichitis. Another name for William is William KILLMAIN.

General Notes: Joined H.M. 22nd Light Dragoons at the age of 6 years. Probably was a Drummer Boy. In 1819, H.M. 22nd Light Dragoons returned to England to be disbanded. William Kelman elected to remain in India and was transferred to H.M. 13th Light Dragoons.

His military records show that he was:
Promoted to Corporal in 1824
Promoted to Sergeant in 1825
Demoted to Corporal in 1827 for "improper conduct"
Promoted to Sergeant in October 1827
He elected to be discharged in 1840 and became a pensioner in Bangalore.

William married Mary Elizabeth BULL, daughter of William BULL and Betsy, on Apr 26, 1820 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Mary was born in Jun 1806 in Arcot, Tamilnadu, India, died in 1866 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India at age 60, and was buried in Agram Cemetary, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The cause of her death was Asthma.
